Supporting Ukraine

Helping Co-op Members to support people affected by war in Ukraine

We’re Co-op’s charity, and we stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine.

From today, Wednesday 23 March, we’re helping Co-op Members offer their support by pledging the value of any donation they make from their Member Reward to the Disasters and Emergency Committee (DEC) Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.

Funding will help support refugees and displaced people in need of food, water, health assistance and trauma care.

Give in seconds by logging into the Membership area of the Co-op app or website and choosing to donate the balance earned in-store through the Co-op Foundation.

Thank you for your support.

A humanitarian crisis

More than 18 million people are expected to be affected by the war in Ukraine.

Three million have already fled their homes, leaving behind jobs, belongings and loved ones.

Families have been separated. People have been injured, and lives have been lost. DEC charities in Ukraine and neighbouring countries are working 24/7 to meet the needs of all refugees and displaced people.

Nick Crofts, CEO of Co-op Foundation said: “It has been harrowing to watch the awful scenes unfold from the war in Ukraine. Like everyone else, we’ve wanted to do our bit at the Co-op Foundation to make a difference to those in need.

“I’m proud that from today we will forward all Co-op Member Reward donations to the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal on behalf of Members. We’re stronger when we work together and I hope our joint efforts will help those who have no food, no shelter and no idea what the future will hold.

“I urge Co-op Members to give what you can today to help tackle the desperate situation these people are facing.”

Other ways to give

About us

Co-op Foundation is Co-op’s charity. We help build fairer and more co-operative communities to help Co-op deliver on its vision of ‘Co-operating for a Fairer World’.

Our work with DEC follows our quick response to the Afghanistan refugee crisis, where we donated our biggest ever single grant to Refugee Action, and our 2021 commitments to be a more flexible funder.

We continue to look at ways to support Ukranian refugees in the UK. Read more about our support in this blog.
